We were tasked with developing a large-scale, custom aquatic system to house nurse sharks for medical research.  Shortly after the first system was installed, a second system was required for a different location on campus.  In a span of 18 months, we worked with Iwaki to design and install two systems basically from scratch under tight deadlines.

What was the specific need for Iwaki Aquatic to address?
Our institution was recruiting a researcher that used nurse sharks for their research and a proper salt water aquatic system was required.  We worked with Iwaki to design, build and install a custom system that would not only meet the needs of the animals and research, but also physically fit into existing facility space.  Ironically, a second system needed to be designed, built and installed in an alternative space only a few short months after the first system was installed.  While both systems were similar, the second system needed to be altered to physically fit into a different space.

Working with Iwaki has been a great experience.  Their knowledge, thoughtfulness and communication was really important for our team since this literally was uncharted territory for us.  I appreciated the fact that some components could be custom-made to fit our spaces and other components were sourced with functionality and space in mind.  They were able to design and build the tanks in appropriate sections that could fit through hallways, in elevators and through door frames; but then also be easily assembled in place.  Both systems have exceeded our expectations and the researcher has been more than satisfied with both systems.  The animals are healthy, the water quality is easy to manage and the control system is user-friendly and works great.
